600M In Arizona Copper Mine Project
Mitsubishi is shelling out nearly $600 million as a joint venture partner for an expanded copper mine project in Arizona. The Copper World mine – a project from Toronto-based Hudbay Minerals – is an open-pit mine located 28 miles southeast of Tucson in the northern Santa Rita Mountains. The mine is anticipated to be the third largest domestic copper cathode producer in the U.S. once its productive, which is anticipated to happen in 2029, according to a statement from Hudbay Minerals.
