But even though it has a price hike for 2026, it still remains the lowest-priced soft-top on the market by $4,000. It's a difference that's tough to argue with, even if the one we were really hoping for this year isn't in the lineup. The current-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata went on sale for model year 2016, and though it's had a few facelifts since then, nothing like that is happening for 2026. Buyers who opt for the Club with the Brembo BBS Recaro package get new interior trim.
Mazda has added black Alcantara to the interior with light gray contrast stitching. The package will also include a piano black lower bezel and black accents, all with the Brembo front brakes, BBS forged wheels, and Recaro sports seats. The starting point for the 2026 MX-5 lineup is the Sport at $30,430, plus a $1,235 destination charge.
That's $900 more than last year, but still $4,000 less than a Mini Cooper convertible , and a little over $10,000 less than a Ford Mustang with a soft top. Just like last year, the next model up is the Club with its Bilstein dampers, clutch-type limited-slip rear, and track mode for the stability control system.
Grand Touring sits at the top of the pile and is the only one offered with an automatic transmission. The Mazda Spirit Racing MX-5 Miata seems promising, but it's been a decade since Mazdaspeed was retired, so why should we be excited? While every current MX-5 gets a 2.0-liter four that makes 181 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque, the MSR model sharpens the car.
It adds new front brakes, height-adjustable Bilstein shocks, and MSR has reinforced the transmission tunnel brace to make the car rigid. Related perspectives: See here
